I have visited a few restaurants over the past few months that I think are worthy of mention:

I am sorry to say I have not thoroughly explored them to make sure they meet all the criteria we are looking for but I was impressed with the freshness, preparation and flavor of the dishes served.

Questions for Restaurant Managers

How much control do you have over menu items?
How many dishes are made from scratch? Which ones are they?
How many dishes are microwaved? Which ones are they?
Do you buy local produce and protein?
What number of dishes contain organic ingredients?
What percent of the dish is organic?
Do you cook with margerine or butter? or?

They are some questions I am going to start with I am sure the list will grow. Let me know some of your questions.

Nugents Fish Grille

We frequent Nugents and have for many years. I have not interviewed them yet but I think they serve great, fresh, well prepared food. For instance, their vegetable medley says sauteed in EVOO. Whew! they offer a fabulous selection and it's not only just fish. The fish is always delicious. Give them a try and let me know what you think. I will get over there in the next week or so and ask some questions. P.S. they allow well mannered pets on the patio. we enjoyed dinner there a month ago with a bunch of our Golden Retriever dogs and owners. The weather was just perfect for dining al fresco.

My husband told me about this place yesterday. http://www.zpizza.com/food/ingredients I got their flyer a few months ago when they opened but they really missed the boat on that one: no mention about organic ingredients and NO mention of gluten free crust. Let me tell you, I have tried to make my own and I have driven down to Fusion Pizza and paid too much for them. Zpizza seems to offer good quality at a good price. I will have to visit them and ask some questions and let you know. Try them and let me know what YOU think.

Eating out in Restaurants

I am on a quest to find and report on reasonable restaurants where we can feel comfortable eating out, again. Right now good restaurants that serve REAL food are few and far between. I am going to search for and report on the ones that are doing a good job and perhaps the ones that are not. My focus is only to find and report in order to provide places we can go to socialize and not jeopardize our health.
